Evaluation

Evaluation for map work
In this task we were given an A2 sheet of paper and a destination. We were asked to draw a map without using arrows or words to show our destination. In the next lesson we were given instructions to follow someone else’s map and they were to follow ours. The map we were given led us to the bike rack between B block and S block. We found there map quite easy to read because they chose to do a traditional map, and they had very clear images that represented a place in the school and a path way to the destination. People found our map hard to read because it was a nontraditional map, and used only images to lead the viewers to the destination. We didn’t read the instructions properly which made it harder for the viewer to arrive at the destination (our destination was the next room).

Evaluation drawing person next to you
In this task we were asked to draw the person sitting next to you (from the shoulders up). The rules were that we were not allowed to take our pencil off the page, and we had to spend 80% of the time looking at the person you where drawing, and 20% of the time looking at the paper. This made it difficult because, we had to have a feel for where you where on the page because we could not spend all our time looking at this. This drawing was relatively normal with just a few lines were they normally be making the picture look a bit strange. The next task we again had to draw the person sitting next to us (from the shoulders up), but this time we were not allowed to look at the paper at all, as well as not being able to take your pencil off the page. This task was a lot more difficult than the previous task, because you had no idea where you had been previously drawing; the end result was not very good in the way that the face I drew did not at all match up with head and hair that I drew. This task was fun to do and also helped with my drawing skilled.

Evaluation drawing Niki's bike
In this class Niki brought in her bike and we were to all draw the bike from the angle that we saw it. We used charcoal and we got five minutes to start your drawing, then after five minutes you had to move to another person’s picture and finish their drawing off from there angle. I really liked this task because her bike was a very interesting this to draw because it had a lot of different colours patterns and shapes, that you could put into detail. After we were done we had to spray our drawing with hair spray so that the charcoal doesn’t smug.

Videos on graphic design
For a few lessons Niki put on some videos about graphic design which we were told to watch and to take notes on. The videos where about the principles and design elements of graphic design. I found the videos interesting; there was so many different ways to make a design effective.
